[attr="class","nodensimg"] [attr="class","nodensimg2"] [attr="class","nodensleft"] GENDER Female AGE 20 HOUSE Slytherin POWERS Metamorphmagus, Patronus (Halloween crab) OCCUPATION Contract Hit Wizard SIDE Order [attr="class","nodensleft2"]BREW GLORY | [attr="class","nodensright1"]SUBJECT PERSONALITY [attr="class","nodensright21"] [attr="class","nodensright22"] This is not a well-balanced personality. Dark, divided, and driven, Emmeline Vance is quick witted, sharp, and not averse to violence. While she does not kill often, many of her victims find themselves filled with pain and fear, something she deals out harshly with little hesitation. Her life feels empty except for her purpose of ferreting out dark magic and it's practitioners though she knows she will never catch the one she really wanted to. Seeking little joy, she does not duel (and who would want to with her version of attacks) and while she does not use the unforgivables often, her curses are nasty enough! Staying primarily near the forested areas of the land, she is 'undercover' as a witch to hire for contract killings, sometimes given temp contracts by aurors for the dirtier works of the Ministry. Approached usually by the seedier sort of dark wizards she also collects rares samples when needed for cash and puts reports in Order hands directly instead of by messenger. She does not trust many and is often wary, hard to predict. She does not have a style so much as a twisted darkness about her that has little to do with magic and much to do with deep-seated fear. With an empty space in her heart for the family she could not save, Emmeline has turned to death as part of her daily life unnerving her few companions and targets alike. Seeing death as she has from underground, she sees herself as living on time stolen and above her value, a thief. With only pride now, her self-worth is low seeking to earn the life she has been given at Dumbledore's hand. Taunts, threats, teasing roll right off her; she has a number of nasty ways to keep herself safe. She sees herself at best as a formidable tool to strike into the belly of the beast that threatens the wizarding world. - - - - - - - Crabs are often symbolic of the two sides, male and female and the change in direction. In this case the Halloween crab is a disguise or a time of hiding when everyone expects a 'mask.' It is significant that Emma has chosen unconsciously to mimic closely the face her family loved instead of a disguise in real life. Mirrors are a real reminder of the family she has lost along with her chosen self. The darkened hair and slight changes will fool anyone who had known her before as a child more then ten years ago and grown up! The disguise she used in school is also long gone, dead three years running now as many think she was killed along with her family. Giving up on her settled personality was through dramatically nasty situation! A therapist might have a real entertaining time with this one, if anyone could convince her to see one. 8", Hawthorne, Chimaera Scale, Bendy (this is her third wand) [attr="class","nodensright1"]SUBJECT BACKGROUND [attr="class","nodensright21"] [attr="class","nodensright22"] Much of Emmeline Vance's history is unknown and discarded even by her. Hence her background is presented in two parts. Before Death Born one Candice Ronan in a little village in the Scottish Isles, the Ronan family rapidly needed a witch intervention as their muggle baby began changing shapes. Coached and regularly checked on by a witch neighbor, the little Metamorphmagus was a girl who first managed a stable form by age three. Clever and quick to learn she was registered with the Ministry early and received training in control early. By age five she had mastered her form to a stable look. By age eight however, she was having some difficulties with her self-image and was soon causing the family confusion when insisting on being called "Candra." The Ronans were fortunately a emotional and close family and managed the change time better then most might have. The following conversation summed up their acceptance of their 'daughter' Candice simply: Ayr: But sweetheart, why? Candra: I want to, Daddy. I just want to. Ayr: But there must be a reason... Candra: Boys get to do everything. Ayr: Not everything, Candra, don't fib. Candra: Okay, not everything, but more then girls do. Ayr: Like what? Candra: Roughhouse, climb in shorts, wrestle, skinnydip-- Ayr: Wait -- since when do you know anything about that? Candra: Daddy! Just some boys at the creek, I surprised them. Ayr: -serious look- You were spying, Candra. Admit it. Candra: -furious blushing- Um...maybe. But I can't make it if I don't see it! And it's not like you would want me to ask them nicely either! Ayr: -stymied- Um... Candra: Besides they didn't know and when I came through like it was by accident they all squealed and ran off laughing. Ayr: -silent thought- Candra: Girls all have to stay near Mommies, boys get to run around loose. Ayr: That's because little girls are precious, Can, -kisses her forehead affectionately- boys are noisy and trouble. You might be able to look like one, but there are things in your head that will always stop you from being one entirely. Candra: And they pee all over! Even in the roses! Ayr: Candra! -tries not to laugh knowing it was the neighbor's kid- Candra: -frowns, determined- I wanna be a boy. Don't you dare tell me no, Daddy! Please? Ayr: -sighs- Candra... You know I love you no matter who you look like, your the best child any father could hope for. I would never tell you not to do something unless it was important, you know that. And if I tell you no, it's for reasons you can not understand yet, but you will over time, you have to believe me on this. Candra: -blushes a tad, but listens completely- Ayr: I will never hold you back from being who you want to be, my little shiny moon beam, -pulls her onto his lap, cupping her chin in his hands- you make me proud with every discovery, everything you learn and I want you to be happy and smart and complete. Candra: -holds her breath- Ayr: So... Candra: Please Daddy -earnest look, holding both his wrists with big eyes- Ayr: People are going to make fun of you, for this darling one, they will say things that will hurt because people, especially foolish adults, don't like things that don't fit a pattern. -grins and ruffles her hair which she just grows shorter so he can't do it as much- You now! Boy or girl you couldn't fit in with others if you tried, my little non-conformist! Candra: -frowns not understanding- Ayr: Which is why I forbid you to hide that you are a girl, ever. If someone asks you always have to tell the truth. Candra: Daddy! -oncoming temper- Ayr: No, Candra Ronan! Candra: -eyes widen, shrinks back- Ayr: This is the only way I will let you do this! In front of your mother especially you have to remain a girl when you are home. And be yourself with us. I need that, especially from you, Candra. You know why? Candra: -shakes head, confused- Ayr: How much do I love mommy? What did I tell you? Candra: You love her to death. Ayr: Exactly, She is everything to me, I need her like... -clearly old game- Candra: -smiles and relaxes with the familiarity of it- flowers need sun and rain. Ayr: Good. And do you think I love trees? And Snickers? Candra: -frowns not knowing why the cat and trees are in this- Of course. Cause they are part of life. Ayr: Very good! Put your hair back now before Mommy sees. Candra: -hair grows back to long tresses obediently- Ayr: They are natural, part of the earth and all good things come from the earth; food, plants, bugs, water, people, and animals. I love them because they are wildly different, part of the chaos of nature and therefore even more beautiful because no one designed them! And you know Mommy loves flowers, blooms, right? Candra: -nods- They smell good! Ayr: And they are pretty, right? No magic makes anything as pretty as nature does, right? Do the pictures look as good as what you eye sees? Candra: -irritated about that still- No! They don't! Ayr: Right! And you know what I see when i see you as a girl, when I kiss you goodnight while you sleep? Candra: -shakes head again, curious now- Ayr: -drops to a whisper as he leans in- Daddy sees the most precious thing in all the world. Daddy sees -caresses her eyebrows- Mommy's hair and -touched her nose- Daddy's nose... Candra: -giggles sweetly- Ayr: -touches her chin- and grandpas chin, and grandma's ears... -playfully- Candra: -giggles and squirms- Ayr: and one day we're going to be gone, maybe me first, maybe Mommy. Candra: -instantly stops, mouth in an 'o' shape- Ayr: -voices shakes- And Mommy will touch your face and see me in you... Or I will see her in you... And we won't hurt as much knowing you are both of us. -falls silent, staring at her face, one finger tracing her dimple- Candra: -thoughtful surprise, unable to get the look on his face from her mind, eyes become moist- Ayr: So I need you to never forget this, Candra. You are perfect to me already as you are, your natural form. You may think you are someone else and you will probably do it when you are not around us, but even in another shape I will remember you as Mommy and love you both very very much. Candra: -sniffles, clings to her father as he hugs her- I-I promise! Ayr: -long hug- So that's my decision. Never lie about who you are really, even to yourself. Stay my beautiful child at home. And always obey Mommy and me. Candra: -nods, her face pressed against his shirt as he holds her tightly- Ayr: You do that, and I will never object to you being who you think you are, Can, boy or girl. But I'll always love you, no matter what. -wipes away a tear- Candra: -softly- Yes Daddy, I promise. I love you too! Ayr: Good girl. -strokes her long red hair like a caress- Candra: -doesn't object for once, smiles- Ayr: -grins- If you pee in Mommy's tulips though she'll spank you red. Candra: -giggles- I won't. Thereafter she was known as Candra outside the house and this continued till she went to Hogwarts where she played the boy role very well known only to a couple of teachers and the Headmaster for her 'unique' situation. Keeping the secret at school, he simply wasn't questioned by any as he played hard and studied harder to become a very capable wizard. Rather a talented DADA student, he rapidly found himself studying more and more types of wide-ranging combat spells, eager to make his mark on the world and become a powerful auror! A few months after graduation however while trying to put off a witch who had fallen for 'him' he was hit with a dreadful sleep curse as the scorned witch decided no one would ever have him ahead of her! Waking up inside a coffin with no wand and a taunting epitaph on the inside lid supposed to be the last thing ever to see he freaked seeing an agonizing death! By that time his home had been blown to smithereens, his parents killed by the same witch in a self-destructive rant which ended in an early death in Azkaban a few months later. After Death Able to escape because of her abilities, he stayed a 'she' for several months on the run till finally hearing about her family and the witch's fate. Shaken and very disturbed, she wandered, trying to find purpose and eventually was found by Dumbledore who (being in on her secret in school) was able to help her regain control and life. Refusing to be a spy for him, she instead became a new persona with his help and some documented Ministry files to become Emmeline Vance, a witch with a mysterious past. Even her patronus changed from a coconut crab she had had before to a Halloween crab, her new hidden role and 'disguise.' With a deep seated fear for dark curses and tight spaces, she became rather vicious and direct in her combat skills which will earn her a formidable reputation in time. Emmeline clings to Dumbledore's promise to seek out dark wizards and witches, appearing to many rather dark herself with her outfits and attitude. Often working the seedier side of life, Vance has become a dangerous witch with a very unsavory-seeming past to drive her on... |
